Many colleges utilize voicemail systems to help them organize their telephone and fax communications. A number of these colleges have been upgrading their voicemail systems in recent years, which had begun to wear out and even experience failures.

Century College in Minnesota recently implemented a new voicemail system after its previous system needed replacing, and stated that the new setup was “making users more productive by enabling them to access email, voicemail and other forms of data … using any of a broad range of devices.” The college also stated that the system “freed the equivalent of a full-time IT staff member for other projects.”

Manchester College also replaced its old system after it began to experience serious technical problems that interrupted the communications capability at the school. The college claimed to have saved approximately $150,000 in rewiring costs by replacing their old system.

While these two examples likely entail the purchase of equipment, many colleges, small businesses and organizations may benefit even more by signing up for voicemail service, as opposed to installing the equipment themselves.
